Cyclone Remal’s landfall has affected the coastal areas in West Bengal and Bangladesh near the southwest of Mongla. It was named by Oman as per the standard convention of naming tropical cyclones in the region. Remal in Arabic means ‘sand’. Cyclone Remal is the first pre-monsoon cyclone in the Bay of Bengal this season.
