TNPSC Group 4 2023 also known as Combined Civil Service Examination-IV invites applications every year for direct recruitment against the vacancies in the various group 4 posts included in the Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service, Non-Technical Subordinate Service, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat Service, Tamil Nadu Secretariat Service, Tamil Nadu Judicial Ministerial Service and Tamil Nadu Housing Board Subordinate Service.

Tamil Nadu Public Service has released the exam pattern for the recruitment of TNPSC Group 4 of posts that come under the cadre.  Different posts include Village Administrative Officer, Junior Assistant, Typist, Steno-Typist, etc are included in the TNPSC Group 4. Candidates who want to apply for these posts must be well-versed with the TNPSC Group 4 Syllabus and Exam pattern 2023.

  1. The TNPSC Group 4 is a 300 marks examination.
  2. Questions in this exam would be asked from  General Tamil, General Studies and Aptitude & Mental Ability.

VILLAGE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )

(AGE LIMIT as on 01.07.2022)

  1. Junior Assistant (Non-Security) (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- ) 
  2. Junior Assistant (Security) (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )
  3. Junior Assistant in Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )
  4. Junior Assistant in Tamil Nadu Housing Board (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )
  5. Bill Collector Grade-I (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )
  6. Bill Collector in Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board (Salary : Rs.16,600 – 60,800/- )
  7. Typist (Salary : Rs.19,500 – 71,900/- )
  8. Steno-Typist (Grade -III) (Salary : Rs.20,600 – 75,900/- )

Note : No maximum age limit for applicants belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes who possess a General Educational Qualification which is higher than the Minimum General Educational Qualification (i.e. who have passed
P.U.C/H.S.C/Diploma/Degree).

Explanation: “No maximum age limit” shall mean that the applicants should not have completed 60 years of age either on the date of Notification or at the time of selection/appointment to the post.

For all the above-mentioned posts, following age concessions are also applicable:

  • Persons With Benchmark Disability are eligible for age relaxation up to 10 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen belonging to  SC, SC(A), ST, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, and BCMs have a maximum age limit of 55 years.  “Others” have a maximum age limit of 50 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen who have already been recruited to any class or service or category are not eligible for the above-mentioned age concession.

TNPSC GROUP 4 Exam 2023 Educational qualification

EDUCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL QUALIFICATION: (as on 30.03.2022). The results of the qualifying examinations should have been declared on or before this date.

1. VILLAGE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER 

Qualification : Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies (or) to College Courses of Studies.

2. JUNIOR ASSISTANT (Non – Security), JUNIOR ASSISTANT (Security), JUNIOR ASSISTANT IN TAMIL NADU HOUSING BOARD, BILL COLLECTOR GRADE-I, BILL COLLECTOR IN TAMILNADU URBAN HABITAT DEVELOPMENT BOARD 

Qualification :Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies.

3. TYPIST

Qualification :

I. Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies.
II. Must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting:-
i) by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
ii) by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English (or)
iii) by Higher/Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.

Note:
Selection Procedure for Typist
a) Candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) will be selected first.
b) In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (ii) will be selected.
c) In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) and (ii) are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (iii) will be selected.

4. STENO-TYPIST(GRADE- III) & STENO-TYPIST (GRADE–III) IN TAMIL NADU URBAN HABITAT DEVELOPMENT BOARD

Qualification:

I. Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with
eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies.
II. Must have passed the Government Technical Examination both in Typewriting and in Shorthand:-
i) by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
ii) by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/Junior Grade in English (or)
iii) by Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.

Note:
Selection Procedure for Steno-Typist (Grade-III)
a) Candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) will be selected first.
b) In case candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (i) are not available, candidates with technical qualification referred to in item (ii) will be selected.

5. STORE KEEPER IN TAMIZHAGAM GUEST HOUSE,UDHAGAMANDALAM

Qualification

I. Must possess Minimum General Educational Qualification viz., Must have passed S.S.L.C Public Examination or its equivalent with
eligibility for admission to Higher Secondary Courses of Studies or to College Courses of Studies.
II. Experience in the maintenance of store accounts for a period of not less than two years.

6. JUNIOR ASSISTANT IN TAMILNADU URBAN HABITAT DEVELOPMENT BOARD

Qualification:

Must have passed H.S.C Public Examination or its equivalent with eligibility for admission to College Courses of studies.

Note: (For all Posts)
Those who have not passed SSLC Examination or its equivalent are not eligible even if they possess a higher qualification.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 4 Exam is an offline mode examination. The aspirants have to answer 300 marks of 200 multiple-choice questions which carries 1.5 marks for each question with No Negtive Marks. The TNPSC Group 4 syllabus includes

  1. General Tamil (100 Questions)
  2. General Studies (75 Questions)
  3. Aptitude and Mental Ability (25 Questions)

Note :
(i) The Part-B of the answer sheets will be evaluated only, if the candidate secures minimum qualifying marks 40% (i.e., 60 Marks) in Part-A.
(ii) Total marks secured in Part-A and Part-B taken together will be considered for ranking.
