How jurisdiction is decided on concurrent list subjects if state laws and union laws clash?

In case, Parliament has passed a law on a subject mentioned in the Concurrent list subsequent to the State passing a law on that subject, then the law passed by the Parliament prevails.

On the other hand, if a State passes a law on that subject subsequent to a law passed by the Parliament, and if there exists clash between state laws and union laws, then the law passed by the State will be valid provided the President gives assent to that particular law.
